Robot Vacuums
Most of us have one or two vacuum cleaners at home, the main upright vacuum and the additional stick or robot vacuum are great pairs to make sure we get both advantages from the appliance. Upright vacuums are usually the most reliable in terms of suction and depending on the model they may come with more dedicated features for different types of floorings. On the other hand, smaller vacuums are best for convenience and above floor or spot cleaning.
Among the types of vacuums, robot vacuums are the most advanced technologically and also the most interesting because they are the newest being introduced. Smart home products allow for home automation and robot vacuums were one of the first that allow this convenience. As the names suggest, robot vacuums work automatically with less assistance from the owners. They can vacuum the flooring automatically and can charge automatically as well. They are far from perfect but are a great addition for the main vacuum in your house.
The way they work is actually very simple and the key is the sensor which depending on the model and brand can vary from each other. This sensor is very useful for navigation because this appliance needs to move across the flooring to work properly. The smarter the vacuums, the more in pattern their movement is because the entry-level models usually just move randomly on your floor. Without pattern, there is a high chance they leave some untouched spot in random places.
The sensor is useful for avoiding objects so when the vacuum bumps something like your pet dog, they will back a little bit and move to the side or away from it. In some higher end models, there is a camera that can map the entire flooring in order to help the computer to design the effective cleaning as well as further personalization such as letting you clean just one area or one room and not the whole flooring. They are also moving in a pattern that makes the cleaning even more effective.
What to know about robot vacuums is the suction won’t be as powerful as the upright vacuums which is why they are not ideal to be the only and main vacuum in the house, especially if you have lots of thick carpet. The canister is also pretty small and as it gets filled up, they will lose some of the suction so make sure to always check the capacity. While being a smart home product, not all robot vacuums have wireless capability which makes not all will be able to be controlled from your phone as well.

About Coredy R500 and R650
For those who are currently looking for a new vacuum to complement their main vacuum, a robot vacuum can be a great solution for daily cleaning so we don’t have to do it manually every day. Robot vacuums may sound intimidating at first but they are getting cheaper as well and we do think the entry-level options are ideal for first time owners to let you have an idea of how they can be useful. Because they are simpler, chances are they are also easier to use.
Brands like iRobot with their Roomba vacuums are amazing because they have lots of reliable vacuums with advanced functionalities like sensors and various personalization for cleaning but they are also quite expensive. If you want to save some budget, Coredy is a great alternative for the budget and many people love them for the price point as well as useful performance. In comparison they are not the most advanced nor the most powerful in suction strength but are still very helpful for everyday cleaning.
We also have more than plenty to choose from based on which seems to meet your preference the most. Since many are also similar however, it can be a bit confusing such as between the Coredy R500 and R650. It seems that the original R500 is difficult to find despite there being some spare parts available for this model and the company itself often recommends getting the R500+ for the lack of stock. Both are very similar in terms of spec so you can apply the comparison for both vacuums.
What’s different from R500 and R500+ is that the R500 will come with a water tank as both of them are capable of being used for wiping the floor. With R500+, you will have to buy this tank and mopping fabric separately. On the other hand, R650 is one step higher than the previous two vacuums with a more powerful suction strength. Coredy R500 and R650 Design
Virtually the Coredy R500 and R650 are very similar to each other in terms of shape and design but they do have different styling on the graphic above. The R500 or R500+ are also very similar but if you can find the original R500, this vacuum will have a completely black fashion with an orange ring around the top plate, as well as a home and power button, similar to R500+. On R650 there is only a power button at the top but the material for these vacuums and their build quality are the same.
We also like that the height of these vacuums are less than 3 inches or about 2.7 to 2.8 inches to let them slide below furniture easily. You will also get the rolling silicon brush in the purchase and additional cleaning tools as well as the base. It seems the R500+ is also slightly larger than the original R500 for the dust capacity and it is the same size for the R650 or at 500 mL, instead of 300 mL on the R500.
Coredy R500 and R650 Suction Performance
Now for the most important part, let’s see how Coredy R500 and R650 are performing here since the core function of vacuum is their suction power so the stronger it is, the more effective the performance. In comparison both R500 and R500+ are rated the same at level or 1400Pa so they will be identical here but, the R650 is different because it almost doubles the suction strength to 2500Pa and this is very useful for taking small debris like fine sand on low carpet.
The previous vacuums are already working well when it comes to hard flooring so we have no complaint with R650 for wood floors, laminated floors or tiles. The drawback is their rotating brushes are moving too fast which can scatter some larger debris away from the suction path. The improved performance is on carpet as the R650 is taking more debris from the pile more effectively but as you move to higher pile, there is not enough height to perform as great.
In terms of navigation both Coredy R500 and R650 are very similar with random movement so there is no clear pattern on how they navigate across the room. When you activate these vacuums for cleaning, expect that they will move randomly, from one room to another if the access is provided. You can limit the space of work for these vacuums by purchasing their boundary tape which is only included in the box if you get the R650. You can command the direction manually or tell the vacuum to come back to the base using the remote.
Coredy R500 and R650 Features
Lastly we want to talk about the additional feature that makes the R500 or R500+ more versatile and this is their ability to use the mopping feature. Sadly the R500+ doesn’t come with the water tank or the mopping fabric but we can purchase it separately. When attached, it will automatically dispense some water and move randomly across the flooring. If we may say it is like wiping rather than mopping because there is no persistent scrubbing involved here, it just passes the spot and works until it finishes.
Additionally, both Coredy R500 and R650 also have common cleaning modes as well as scheduling that we can find on the remote control. The random navigation is their auto mode and they also have edge mode or spot mode that concentrate on a single spot in a limited area.
Coredy R500 vs R650
These vacuums are very useful but probably for different people. The most noticeable difference between Coredy R500 and R650 is that you can add a water tank for the mopping function in R500 which is not available for R650 but, the higher option is adding a much more powerful suction strength to improve the cleaning efficacy. They can use boundary strips too but with the R500 or R500+ you will need to buy it separately while R650 comes with it.
Conclusion
The option is all yours because they are equally reliable but if you will need to wipe the floor after vacuuming or have mostly hard flooring, we recommend getting the R500 or R500+ for their mopping function.
