In today’s article, we want to compare two mopping robots from the same company, iRobot. The names are iRobot Braava Jet 240 and M6, that are also known to be affordable robot mopping cleaners in the market. We’ll see the differences in between, and decide which one from the two is actually more worth to buy.
You need to remember that these machines are for mopping only, so you can’t expect an excellent performance in vacuuming. Even though both are equipped with dry or dusty mode, it doesn’t mean that they can suck the dirt. Instead, they will use the dry pad in order to sweep the floor.
The larger debris will likely push them out of the way, so they’re not very effective to clean larger messes. In conclusion, dusty mode is the only main idea that works wonderfully on both models. Braava models can do a really good job at mopping floors that offer more cleaner surface than vacuum mops.

iRobot Braava Jet 240
The first one we want to talk about is the Braava Jet 240, which is known for its cheap, In fact, its price is actually the cheapest one of all models. But with its limited price, comes limited specification. It only has a very small tank of water, which is around 0.15 liters.
The setup process is also easy with the simple steps of attaching the included disposable mopping pads which function to dry, damp, and wet. Each pad has the little card on the back side. The machine will automatically detect it, and spray the water depending on which pad was used.

Washable and reusable pads is a nice idea, but sadly they are sold separately. How the machine works is spraying the water right in front of the unit and making back-and-forth movement in a specific path. Both modes beside the dry mode clean the area with the Y-shaped movement rather than only back and forth.
Surprisingly, Braava Jet 240 has a surprisingly great navigation system. Place the machine on the left side of the room, and watch it be cleaned after. It can work in a very clever and effective way with its automatic detector that can make it easily moving around obstacles. Read also: iLife V3S Pro vs Roomba.
It can cover up to 150 square feet area in mopping mode. It does an even greater job in Dusting Mode, where it doubles up that value. Since it’s not carpet and rug friendly, the sensor will automatically prevent it from going near them, which is another clever idea.
With it, the unit will not go to undesirable places like the bathroom, since it will automatically stop and look for the other way when facing a bathroom mat. You can also limit its ranges by using the virtual wall mode, preventing it from going to specific rooms. In order to use this feature, you can simply press down the button until you see the blue line.
With a single charge, the 240 can work up to 180 minutes, which is actually better than most. The battery is removable, and it’s also pretty easy to find a replacement. But, with its limited capability, it will take a longer cleaning process. Usually, in order to fully clean a room, Braava Jet 240 will take around 60 minutes, which is way slower than conventional robot vacuums.
M6
Braava Jet M6 still can be considered the newest in the family. iRobot went differently with this model by applying the true water spray method. Water tank is now removable, but the machine basically still carries the same idea. In order to operate M6, one needs to attach the pads, whether it’s for dry or wet the floor.
Even though the Y-shaped movement is gone now, you still have several decent upgrades that might make you a bit convenient. First, is the ability of integrating it with the app. In the application, you get several important menus including the water spray adjustment, which basically adjust the amount of water sprayed for each session.
With the upgrade, we still can’t find a huge difference in the result. It still cleans in the way how Jet 240 works, so you may expect a pretty similar result. Both are great in mopping ability, even better than most mopping robots. But the difference between them in terms of performance is really slim.
But, the real difference here is the navigational features. As you might know it, the M6 is the pure mopping robot that has the built-in camera which works as a sensor to map your house. With this present, you can systematically adjust it to clean the rooms that you want, plus prevent it from the locations you want to restrict. You can usually control all of this within the application. Select the room you want it to be cleaned and/or restricted to enter, making the cleaning process fully automatic. But, in order to start the cleaning process, the user still needs to take the unit in a room that you want it to be cleaned. It’s the basic way of using Braava models, since they always require the user’s involvement.
One thing that’s interesting about it is the automatic charging. When its battery runs out, it will automatically make its way to the base to recharge, and resume the cleaning process later on. This pause-and-resume feature will make everyone’s cleaning chore more easy and enjoyable.
iRobot Braava Jet 240 vs M6
Conclusion
Nothing can be said except both are really great machines. Offering beautiful performance of mopping that can even surpass its higher-priced competitors making Braava Jet 240 and M6 worthy. Then, which one can you pick from these two?
Our recommendation is go for the Braava Jet 240. The reasons? It’s cheaper, works beautifully, and in the same way as its more expensive sibling, and works in a very simple, and traditional way. The cool navigation features you can find nowadays are not present within this small machine. But, even though it carries limitations, Braava Jet 240 has proven itself to be a great choice of mopping robot.
