Robot Vacuums Convenience
Vacuuming is a must, and if you don’t have enough time to do the chores daily, we can rely on a robot vacuum instead. This is a very convenient appliance and suitable for so many people, especially modern homes with fewer things to concern on the flooring. The machine is like a dream come true for adults struggling to spare some time to relax at home. They are getting more affordable and powerful to perform better cleaning results.
How does robot vacuum work? They are very similar to a regular vacuum in terms of mechanism. They create the same suction even though typically weaker than our traditional vacuums. What makes them automatic is the sensor and, of course, wheels. This sensor is crucial in a robot vacuum because our robots rely on these sensors when navigating. The sensor works like a detector or eyes of the robot to “sense” the surrounding. This is why they will back away when hitting something or take a different route.
The sensor varies among robot vacuums; some are pretty basic to know when and where the robot is cleaning, while others can virtually map your house. The latter usually comes with a built-in camera or high-tech sensors to copy the surrounding. This way, the computer can design a better cleaning performance, especially when it comes to navigating inside the house. The best thing besides navigation is that they can remember and do more specific cleaning for different rooms to schedule better.

About Roborock E4 and S6
Are robots vacuums worth it? Absolutely, if you want the convenience, but we have to say that none of them will replace the full-size vacuum, especially if your house has a lot of carpeted surfaces. Robot vacuums have smaller motors and lower suction strength that won’t be able to deep-cleans your rug. They are, however, best for houses or apartments with hard flooring. Being automatic is great, but users will still have to do at least minimum care, such as cleaning the canister and changing the filter.
If you don’t have time to do daily cleaning or vacuuming, a robot vacuum will be a great assistant. They can be scheduled to clean anytime you want so that we can go back to a clean flooring after work or activities. Roborock is one of the most promising options to consider with its extensive collection and vacuum range from budget to high-end solutions. Many choose them over brands like iRobot Roomba because they are typically more affordable with the same abilities.
Our favorite is that they also come with more features. Usually, you only get an essential robot vacuum at the price range, but Roborock E4 and S6 are not just a robot vacuum. This series is implementing mop as well in the system, meaning the robot vacuum works as a robot mop as well. This is not a feature that everyone will want, such as if your house is mostly covered with carpet. But it is a handy feature for us with primarily hard flooring.
The mop function is great to help you remove stains such as from wine or coffee, especially fresh stains. In comparison, they have the same functionalities to vacuum and mop. However, the E4 is cheaper, and we notice that it doesn’t come with mopping accessories. Another difference that makes Roborock E4 and S6 very different is the system. Your S6 is overall smarter to tell different parts of the flooring, and we highly recommend this model if your house is a mix of hard and carpeted flooring.
Roborock E4 and S6 Unit
Just like most robot vacuums, the Roborock E4 and S6 are round. It is probably the peak design for this automatic appliance, but we don’t have any complaints as long as they work well. Putting them side by side, the E4 is slightly shorter at 4-inch while S6 is 4.7-inch. The width seems to be somewhat bigger for S6 because the diameter is about 1-2 inches wider than E4. They don’t have a cord but a charging dock connected to your wall power.
The dock or charging station is also different because S6’s dock is wider or larger than E4. It comes in the box; you get everything from brushes to the water tank and mop cloth with S6, while E4 comes with the base and brushes. You can buy the rest of these accessories separately. In your vacuum, there is a HEP filter attached to the compartment. It is meant to be removed and washed every two weeks to maintain the suction power. Read also: Roborock E4 Vs E5 here.
Roborock E4 and S6 Suction Power
Because we are talking about vacuum cleaners, the most crucial point is their suction power which is surprisingly very similar between Roborock E4 and S6. These vacuums are rated to generate suction up to 2,000Pa to work on both hard flooring and carpeted surface. The vacuums will detect the surface type and increase suction on the carpet. But, the clearance of S6 is higher than E4, which makes it more effective for taller carpets. You can also run the vacuums at Silent, Balance, Turbo, and Max mode.
Roborock E4 and S6 Performance
In a real-world application, these Roborock E4 and S6 are not disappointing at all. Not so surprisingly, both of them are best when it comes to hard flooring. They can take care of larger debris and smaller, fine dust quickly. The brush arrangement and type are the same, so we think they will perform at the same level. For carpeted surfaces, none comes out outstanding, but it is to be expected. While the suction will take care of visible dirt, the two are ineffective for smaller debris.
The mopping performance is gravity-based, so there is no automatic feature to adjust the water flow. In general, the mopping function is excellent for taking care of stains or grimes and embedding fine dust on the flooring. There is also a physical switch on the water tank to adjust the water flow. If you have carpet flooring, too, we do not recommend using E4 as it can’t stop the mopping function nor avoid it without the magnetic boundary.
What makes the experience different with Roborock E4 and S6 is when it comes to navigation. We think S6 is improved or upgraded from the latest series to enhance navigation. In comparison, the S6 is more effective at avoiding obstacles. This is a common issue with robot vacuums because they have to move and navigate independently. Many people tell their E4 is often stuck and unable to find a clear path while cleaning, yet it is lower to get below furniture easier than S6.
With obstacles such as tassel carpet and electrical cord, we found that Roborock E4 and S6 behave similarly or tangling the appliance. What makes S6 much better is designing a more effective cleaning path for the vacuum, which is not offered for the E4. You can create a virtual no-go zone on the app for S6 to help the vacuum avoiding some areas such as near the cat’s litter box or the place where your kid often leave their toys.
To perform the same thing with E4, users have to physical markers or magnetic strips to prevent the vacuum from going to a specific area. Unfortunately, it is not included in the purchase, but you can buy it separately from the Roborock shop.
Roborock E4 and S6 Map
Scheduling and mapping are other helpful features that set Roborock E4 and S6 apart. Since we can create a dedicated map in the app, the S6 is also more intelligent to go or avoid certain places in the house. The app will allow you to choose a schedule for a specific room only instead of doing an entire floor cleaning like with E4. This way, we can clean different rooms every day or prevent the vacuum from touching a specific room in the house conveniently from the app only.
Roborock E4 Vs S6
The Roborock E4 and S6 are great options if you want a robot vacuum that can also mop. The main difference between the two is additional features, especially navigation. The S6 has a more upgraded sensor combination that can detect obstacles and map the rooms. It is not only showing history but can be modified with no-go zones. This feature is beneficial for keeping the vacuum from certain areas and is helpful to prevent it from mopping the carpet when the water tank is attached.
Conclusion
There is no wrong option here, but users have to choose which works best in their flooring. For those with a mixed surface of hard flooring and carpet, we highly recommend the upgraded S6 to design a better cleaning process.
