Robot Vacuum Maintenance
Vacuum cleaners are the basic home cleaning tool in the house and they are very useful as well depending on what type of vacuum you have. In most cases we have an upright or canister vacuum for daily cleaning but there are also convenient robot vacuums that can work well for hard flooring and thin carpets. The robot vacuums are an ideal choice if you want to remove the hassle of cleaning the floor manually or a secondary vacuum for the main upright that we can use for deep cleaning.
For a robot vacuum, there are various factors we need to pay attention to in order to ensure the system works reliably. Because of being automated, they will work on their own with some assistance. Unlike a regular vacuum that we navigate manually, the robot will use their sensor to navigate across the flooring and this is why we have to make sure that there are less or no obstructions that can hinder its job. It may sound like a hassle but necessary for the optimum performance.
Because they are working on the flooring only, we have to remove any obstacle that can get in their way. It doesn’t mean the furniture but small objects like wires, the pet’s toys or our kid’s toys that may scatter on the flooring. Blinds that are too long and laying on the floor may get sucked by the vacuum and make it stuck. If you have a pet like a dog or cat, do check out the litter whether there is any excrement on the floor since the vacuum won’t recognize it and may just run over it.
Maintaining robot vacuum is the same as maintaining regular vacuums. The most important is to always empty the bin on time or don’t wait too long before the vacuum fills its canister since their form factor is small, the bin capacity will also be very limited. They also have filters and washing or replacing it is necessary to keep the vacuum working properly. Filled up canisters and dirty filters will cause the suction power to decrease and also not be able to push clean air properly.
In addition, also pay attention to the brushes on your vacuum. Different robot vacuums may have different amounts or types of brushes on the unit but make sure to remove hair strands or fiber from the brush to maintain the performance. There might be some grime as well on the wheels as it moves across the flooring so we have to clean it from time to time to help the vacuum move effectively.

About Roborock S6 Pure and S7
There are lots of robot vacuums that you can opt to, depending on what features or capabilities they need to have. Price often decides how they will perform but this is not absolute and there are still many alternatives with similar performance but at a more affordable price range. We do recommend to consider what you want to have or any features that must exist on the unit then proceed to look for the options.
If you want to be convenient, we can shop from the numerous brands out there based on the budget. Popular names like iRobot is a great choice and they do have many to choose from but if you want to spend less while still getting a lot from the product, Roborock is an ideal option. This brand carries some of the most interesting offerings in the market and our favorite is they also have versatile vacuums that can do more than just vacuuming.
However, just like many other companies, they also tend to create very similar products that it can be confusing to choose one and being a one or two number higher doesn’t mean the certain model is better than their siblings such as between Roborock S6 Pure and S7. These robot vacuums are separated by the price point and model range but the two are quite similar and in general they also carry the same functionalities that if you don’t need a newer product then we highly recommend going with the S6 Pure.
In comparison, the S7 do have some features or more exactly a system that is supposed to improve the performance yet the core of Roborock S6 Pure and S7 are the same so the overall suction and cleaning ability will most likely be the same as well. What we love the most from the two is their versatility because not only vacuuming the floor, they are also wiping the surface to make sure any embedded dirt that can’t be taken off by the vacuum’s suction will be wiped off by the mopping function.
Roborock S6 Pure and S7 Design
These robot vacuums are about the same to many other similar options out there. The height is a bit higher however compared to most vacuums or about 3.8 inches because there is this protruding sensor at the top. The housing is made of plastic and we don’t have any complaints about how they are constructed since the unit seems robust as well. They have a similar but different control panel at the top of the vacuum with S7 also adding a spot clean/child lock button instead of just the power and home button.
In the box you will get the vacuum itself along with the accessories and another canister for mopping. The fabric is included as well but, the S7 has the bigger water canister as it can contain 300 ml of water instead of just 180 ml. Both vacuums are manually emptied so they have a regular base that also comes with the vacuum.
Roborock S6 Pure and S7 Vacuuming Performance
Now let’s see what Roborock S6 Pure and S7 can offer starting with the vacuuming ability because this is the most important part. We do think your main purpose to buy these vacuums is for vacuuming hard floors or thin carpet because rather than mopping the two are just wiping the surface. On the hard flooring, the S7 seems to be slightly more powerful in sucking the air and this is more similar to the S6 Max if you have used the vacuum.
What’s surprising is that the two are very well reliable for daily cleaning because they can take most of the fine dirt and larger debris like rice, beans or candies that scatter on the floor. The rolling brush is different however because in S7 instead of fine fiber it uses a solid paddle-like brush. They are also surprisingly really well for carpet from low to mid-pile but not as good for the thicker and taller ones.
Roborock S6 Pure and S7 Mopping Functions
Next let’s talk about the mopping function which in our opinion is the biggest upgrade or redesigning from S7. This vacuum is featured with Sonic Vibration technology that scrubs the flooring at 3000 cycles per minute for a better cleaning ability. In addition, this vacuum also has an Intelligent Mop Lifting function which is automatically detecting the surface so when it moves towards a carpet, the mop pad will be lifted from the flooring, minimizing the chance of wetting the carpet.
This is what’s lacking from the S6 Pure because for vacuum/mop functions we need a no-go zone on the app and this function is not present for the S6 Pure through the app, unlike the S5 Max that you can check in our previous Roborock S6 Pure and S5 Max. On the performance, S7 is also more effective in wiping the floor, probably because it adds more pressure to the surface.
As for the navigation, the Roborock S6 Pure and S7 are very similar to each other. They are connected to the app and you can control the functionalities through the app as well. The two are smart enough to understand the flooring map and move effectively according to setup. They can recognize the level as well depending on how many levels you have in the house. The navigation looks clean and they are capable of covering the surface really well without missing the spot.
Roborock S6 Pure vs S7
These robot vacuum/mop are very convenient depending on which seems to work better for you. In comparison the S7 has the higher vacuuming suction so it can work slightly better. The mopping ability of S7 is also better because it puts more pressure into the surface and in addition it also lifts the mop fabric automatically so we don’t need to use the no-go zone for mopping. This no-go zone apparently is not present for S6 Pure from the app.
Conclusion
You can go amazing with any of the two based on which will be the promising one. Personally we do think the price of S7 is expensive for its additional features yet if you have no issue about the budget then we highly recommend this vacuum but, for the daily vacuuming and mopping, the S6 Pure is already very useful.
