Robot Vacuums
Most people must be familiar with robot vacuums because they have been around for quite some time but just like most advanced and automatic products, they are still far from perfect. As an adult the idea of home automation, more importantly the cleaning process is getting more attractive because we have more tasks to complete and less time to be at home or have free time. However, we can’t neglect the house chores because living in a dirty house or space is a big no for comfort and health.
If you can’t vacuum everyday, worry not because we have robot vacuum that can save the day. As the name suggests, this appliance is called a robot because they are automated or working automatically with very little assistance from the users. Once you power them up, just press the Clean button that is usually located at the top of the vacuum and they will start to move across the room sucking the dust or debris that are present on the surface including heavy debris like sand or larger debris like cereals.
The main advantage of robots is their convenience because this appliance can work on their own with very little assistance. There are sensors on the robot to detect the obstacles when they are running into one which is almost always when cleaning the room. The movement will vary so not all robot vacuums that you see will move or navigate in the same manner. In most cases the entry-level alternatives will move randomly while the higher models like Roborock S6 Pure S6 MaxV will move in a pattern.
They have brushes as well located on the vacuum channel and usually at the front of the unit. The rotating brush is useful to take the debris or dust that is on the working path to get closer to the suction channel and also useful when they are cleaning edges to make sure most mess is taken care of by the vacuum. The rolling brush on the suction channel will have the same benefit but at the same time also brush the surface of carpet for a more effective cleaning.
Another great advantage of robot vacuums is their scheduling because even the entry-level have the feature to let you set a schedule of when the vacuum is cleaning so for example we can limit the usage only when someone is in the house or the opposite, when you are at work. On the higher end choices, we can even decide which room to clean and avoid because they have advanced mapping and this is very useful if you don’t want them to go into a certain area without a supervisor.

About Shark Ion and Eufy
If you are here then we assume that a robot vacuum will be very useful in the house and now is the time to see what the market has to offer as you can find so many of them out there. The common brands like Roomba is a great choice if you don’t know about which options to go for but if you want to spend some time browsing around, there are actually lots of amazing options on both affordable and pricier spectrum.
Besides Roomba by iRobot, the brands that you can count on are Shark and Eufy because they are very promising on the collection as well as product quality. They are also offering advanced robot vacuums with more features and are more reliable in general but the two are probably more well known when it comes to the affordable alternatives. They have some of the most interesting offerings for budget shoppers and probably users who are getting their first robot vacuums.
If you don’t want to invest quite a lot yet for this robot vacuum, Shark Ion and Eufy, especially the G30 will be two very popular and reliable options from the collections. The Ion model today is their AV751 and for Eufy you will also find lots of other similar and even more affordable robot vacuums that cost less than $200 but we do think these variants are the best options for balancing the cost and convenient, especially for an appliance that we love due to their convenience.
These robot vacuums are very affordable but also capable because it is important to have a cleaning appliance that we can rely on. In comparison, the Shark Ion and Eufy are very similar but also different yet for the performance part they are very good on hard floors while still reliable for the carpet. The ease of use is also the same but if you have many furniture with lower clearance the two will be very much suitable for the type of layout.
Shark Ion and Eufy Design
From the outside there is nothing special about these robot vacuums because they are very similar to most typical convenient vacuums out there. The round shape seems to be the most popular, even though there is also the D shape from some companies. What’s noticeably different is probably the type of layout for the control panel at the top, shade, and the height. One of our favorite things from these vacuums is their low-profile because many other vacuums can be 3.5 inches and even taller.
Both of them are only 3 and 2.85 inches tall respectively which makes the two able to slide below furniture with lower clearance; cleaning more effectively. The control panel above can be used to operate the vacuum with typical controls such as clean, home, and spot cleaning but the Ion has a Max button to replace spot cleaning. They don’t have a remote because you can use the app from your smartphone to find the other menus.
Shark Ion and Eufy Performance
Moving further, let’s see what the Shark Ion and Eufy can offer starting from the cleaning ability because this is the most important part of having an automatic cleaning appliance. Both vacuums are actually very reliable when it comes to hard flooring as they are able to work effectively in removing the dust and debris from the surface. These vacuums also don’t have any problem climbing to the carpet when needed and avoid obstacles really well too. They will get stuck on cords from time to time but it is normal.
The additional advantage is probably their noise level because in normal or automatic mode both vacuums are pretty quiet and still working well so we can watch TV without getting disturbed or if you have pets like dogs or cats at home they won’t get frightened by the noise too. In comparison however, it seems that the Eufy G30 is more capable at staying away from cords and similar objects that may be on the flooring and this vacuum is also powerful so they can nudge something from its spot.
Shark Ion and Eufy Features
On the additional features, because the Shark Ion and Eufy here are their entry-level variants, the features are also not as rich as those that cost higher. But, at least we can control them from the app as the vacuums are connected to the Wi-Fi and you can also do voice commands if using another home assistant. The app is very easy to use and contains the rest of the cleaning modes that we can use the robot in, including their scheduling.
None comes with a mapping function however and there is no boundary or invisible wall either but, the Ion AV751 is able to use boundary strips when you need it to stay away from a certain area. The accessory is sold separately however.
Lastly, we want to talk about the navigation of Shark Ion and Eufy because they are quite different here. Both don’t come with mapping but the Eufy G30 is using gyroscope as the sensor to let the vacuum move more effectively and this is why you see the Ion AV751 move across the flooring randomly while the Eufy is in constant strip, similar to the traditional snake game. This makes the vacuum’s movement more predictable but also more effective to minimize spots.
Shark Ion vs Eufy
Both vacuums are very similar but also different and for the suction power they seem to be about the same to each other. The difference is that Eufy, in this comparison the G30 is shorter than the Ion AV751 and is better at avoiding obstacles but also quite powerful when nudging something. The Eufy G30 is neater when working because it has a certain pattern or movement to minimize spots while the AV751 Ion is random. The Shark vacuum is compatible with the border strip but the G30 is not.
Conclusion
You can go amazing with any of these affordable robot vacuums because they are similarly reliable and convenient. But, if you want the one that is more effective in cleaning the Eufy is a good choice and if you need the vacuum that can work with border strip Shark Ion is the ideal option.
