Viomi V3 vs Roborock S6: Design
Viomi V3 comes in the usual cardboard box, which contains the robot vacuum along with its accessories in separate compartments so that they won’t bump into each other. You can find the charging dock, power adapter, side rotary brush, spare HEPA filter, two containers designed for dry and wet cleaning, disposable cleaning rags, and user manual.
The appearance of Viomi V3 is typical of a robot vacuum. It is circular, with a black body and a gray top panel. It measures 350 mm (13.78 inches) wide and 94.5 mm (3.72 inches) tall. It weighs about 3.6 kg (7.94 pounds). This model is a little bit on the thicker side. You may need to make sure that the clearance under your furniture is larger than Viomi V3’s body if you don’t want it to get stuck. Read also: Shark Ion vs Roomba 675.
Viomi V3 has a huge water tank capacity of 550 ml, which is said to be sufficient for mopping up to 2,700 square feet in one run. The overall build quality is good, as the robot and its accessories feel solid and robust. However, it does not come with a remote, so you need the mobile application if you want to control the robot remotely.
Roborock S6 also comes in a cardboard box that includes the charging dock, power adapter, water tank, spare HEPA filters and water filters, brush cleaning tool, and user manual. In addition, there are two reusable mop cloths, five disposable mop cloths for heavy-duty cleaning, and a waterproof plastic base that is really nice for shielding the floor from the robot’s damp mop cloth after a cleaning session.
Here, there is nothing surprising about the design, either. Roborock S6 possesses a circular body and is available in two color variants, white and black. It has a diameter of 350 mm (13.78 inches), a height of 96.5 mm (3.79 inches), and a weight of 3.6 kg (7.94 pounds). Compared to Viomi V3, Roborock S6 is a tiny bit thicker, which is a thing to worry about if you have narrow crevices under your furniture items.
Roborock S6 has a smaller capacity. The water tank can only hold up to 140 ml of clean water. Meanwhile, the dustbin capacity is about 480 ml. Roborock S6 also doesn’t have a remote control, so it relies on the mobile app for remote operation.

Viomi V3 vs Roborock S6: Mobile App
Viomi V3 holds a better edge when it comes to the software. It works with the Xiaomi Home mobile app, but, surprisingly, it uses a different user interface in the mobile app. Here, everything is more robust and user-friendly. It is also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
There are buttons for directly accessing the Start, Stop/Dock, Vacuum, Mop, Vacuum & Mop, and Map functions. In the Map tab, you can find more detailed options, such as virtual wall & restricted area, area editor, clean area, and fixed cleaning. You can also change the robot’s movement pattern between S-pattern and Y-pattern, and schedule the robot’s cleaning sessions.
Viomi V3 uses LIDAR and SLAM technologies to ensure efficient navigation. By default, Viomi V3 will only pass over an area once, which is not a problem most of the time due to the robot’s powerful cleaning power. However, you can enable Secondary Cleaning on the mobile app to make it pass over an area twice.
Roborock S6, on the other hand, also uses the Xiaomi Home mobile app. Unfortunately, Roborock S6 somehow uses an old user interface that feels clunky and difficult to use. One funny thing is that you need to enable the mapping feature in the mobile app before the robot actually uses the mapping technology for efficient movement.
Nevertheless, there are similar functions, including virtual wall & restricted area. You can also schedule the cleaning and check the operation history. If you don’t want to deal with the fiddly mobile app often, you can connect Roborock S6 to Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa so that you can just use voice commands to operate the robot.
Viomi V3 vs Roborock S6: Vacuum Performance
According to the specs, Viomi V3 has a suction power of 2,600 Pa. It is easily among the stronger robot vacuums in the market. When tested, this robot vacuum consistently delivers satisfying results on hard floors, but not on carpets.
Viomi V3 works amazingly well on hard floors. In the max setting, it can easily pick up anything, from fine dust and sand particles to large debris like cereals, bread crumbs, and dirt clumps. It is also able to capture pet fur and long human hair. However, things like long human hair tend to get wrapped around the brush, so you will need to clean the brush every once in a while.
Unfortunately, Viomi V3 is not perfect. It delivers mixed results on carpets. It can work fairly well on low-pile carpets though; it is still able to pick up large debris from such surfaces. However, it is not able to pick up sand, long human hair, and pet litter from carpets. It struggles a lot on high-pile carpets.
Roborock S6 is actually also a good robot vacuum, but it has a lower suction power of 2,000 Pa. Nevertheless, it works well on hard floors, and is able to pick up fine particles and large debris from such surfaces. Sometimes, it requires two passes to completely eliminate sand, but it gets the job done.
It can also deal with pet fur and long human hair, but, similarly, the brush will need to be cleaned every once in a while – the included brush cleaning tool is handy for this task. Also, if you have plenty of carpets in your home, Roborock S6 may be the better choice, as this model comes with an automatic carpet boost mode.
When encountering a carpet surface, it will automatically use an increased suction power to ensure proper cleaning. The results on low-pile carpets are noticeably better. Roborock S6 can capture sand and pet litter almost completely. That said, it also struggles on high-pile carpets.
Viomi V3 vs Roborock S6: Mop Performance
Viomi V3 is better in the overall mop performance. It actually mops really well. You should use the Y-pattern when mopping, as this setting delivers better agitation than the standard straight movement and ensures proper cleaning. It can eliminate stains while leaving almost no residue.
Compared to Roborock S6, Viomi V3 tends to take longer to finish mopping. It also consumes significantly more water, so the 550 ml water tank can get depleted quite quickly. But the results are great. Thanks to the 4,900-mAh battery, Viomi V3 can mop continuously for up to 150 minutes, and it has a recharge-and-resume function.
Roborock S6 only gives okay-ish results when mopping. It doesn’t provide much agitation, so it is unable to completely eliminate stains. It also has a tendency to spread a spoiled liquid. However, it is good enough if you just need to run quick mop runs to reduce the dust accumulation on your floors.
The 5,200-mAh battery of Roborock S6 offers a maximum runtime of 180 minutes. However, the limited water tank capacity won’t allow you to clean a large house in one go. You probably will need to refill it in the middle of the operation.
Viomi V3 vs Roborock S6
Conclusion
In the end, Viomi V3 is generally better and more recommended. It has a larger water tank capacity, and it offers stronger suction power and better mop performance. Also, the mobile app is more robust and user-friendly. Viomi V3 is a great choice if you have mostly hard floors in your home. Meanwhile, Roborock S6 seems to vacuum carpet better, but the mop performance is not really good.
