Xiaomi Mop Pro vs Roborock S5 Max: Design
Xiaomi Mop Pro comes with the typical shape of a robot vacuum. It is a circular device with sensors, rubber bumpers, and brushes at the bottom, physical buttons on the top, available in black and white. But it has a small unique detail on the top, which is a small tower with an orange accent where the mapping sensor resides. Read also: Xiaomi Mop Pro vs Roborock S6.
Compared to its competitor here, Xiaomi Mop Pro is actually a little bit slimmer, although the difference is very marginal. This model measures 350 mm wide and 94.5 mm thick. If you open the top cover, you will find the dustbin and water tank. Unfortunately, these containers are rather small and may require frequent emptying and refilling if your home is quite large.
Roborock S5 Max also comes with a circular body. It has a matte black finish. It has a similar diameter of 350 mm, but it is slightly thicker at 97 mm. Still, it is able to move under most tables, chairs, and sofas, and the sensors will ensure smooth and safe navigation through your furniture.
Opening the top lid will also reveal the 0.46-liter dustbin, which is fairly big. The roller brush at the bottom is detachable for easy cleaning. Meanwhile, at the back, there is a pull-out water container that has a 280-ml capacity. Again, this is fairly big, and will allow continuous cleaning for a longer time.

Xiaomi Mop Pro vs Roborock S5 Max: Accessories
Xiaomi Mop Pro comes with useful accessories. In addition to the dust and water containers, which come with their own HEPA-style filters, you also get two side brushes, a full-wet mop, a semi-wet mop, the attachment tool for the mop, and of course the charging base and the power adapter.
The dust and water containers are conveniently equipped with different connectors so that you won’t get confused between them and the robot will know which one is attached. This will also prevent the robot from running without a container and creating a mess.
Roborock S5 Max also includes everything that you need to start cleaning and take care of the robot. There are tiny brushes inside the robot to keep the main brush clean, and a razor tool that will cut hair and fibers from the main brush and prevent tangling. There is no replacement filter, but the included filter is washable to allow easy, low-cost maintenance.
Another nice accessory is the plastic floor protector. This piece is meant to be placed around the charging dock. The microfiber cloth under the robot will be moist after a mopping run, and the moisture may damage your floor if it is wooden. The plastic floor protector will shield the floor from the moist cloth.
Xiaomi Mop Pro vs Roborock S5 Max: Control
The first run with Xiaomi Mop Pro will take a long time because the robot will need to map your home first. It will move randomly and may enter rooms multiple times. However, the subsequent runs will be significantly shorter once the robot has a map and is able to calculate the most efficient path.
Although Xiaomi Mop Pro can run simply by pushing its on-board button, the companion app will give you the full control and access to its features. On the app, you can check the map and merge, divide, or label rooms. You can place a barrier on a room if you don’t want the robot to enter that room. Other features of the app include cleaning mode selection, vacuum speed adjustment, water outflow adjustment, and scheduling.
The companion app will also allow you to connect Xiaomi Mop Pro to Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. The initial pairing is easy and straightforward. Unfortunately, there aren’t many things that you can do with the voice commands, only starting and stopping.
Roborock S5 Max similarly can operate independently but works best with the mobile app. Connecting over Wi-Fi is quick and easy. It also needs some time to map your home in the first run, but it will perform much quicker works in the subsequent cycles. The mobile app of Roborock S5 Max will also allow you to set virtual barriers if you don’t want the robot to go anywhere near fragile furniture.
Overall, the mobile app is more user-friendly, more intuitive, and more robust. You can adjust the water output for mopping via the app to suit different conditions and floor types. Roborock S5 Max is compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Siri, and also Xiaomi Mi Home for smart home integration and voice control.
Xiaomi Mop Pro vs Roborock S5 Max: Performance
Xiaomi Mop Pro offers good cleaning power. As a vacuum, it is quite powerful and capable of cleaning bare floors as well as carpets and rugs. You can choose between different suction power levels: turbo, medium, standard, and silent.
The turbo mode unleashes the full 2,100-Pa suction, and is useful for dealing with high-pile carpets. The medium and standard levels are suitable for bare floors, whereas the silent mode is nice for quick, light cleaning. Xiaomi Mop Pro can be very noisy in the turbo mode, but in the standard mode the noise is low enough to allow you to speak over it.
Xiaomi Mop Pro does mopping quite well. The robot moves in a straight line when mopping in the standard S mode. There is also a more thorough Y mode, where the mop will move back and forth for more powerful mopping. The only problem is that there is no way to know when the robot runs out of water during mopping, and the water tank is small, so this is a very likely problem to occur.
Roborock S5 Max has a peak suction that is rated at 2,000 Pa. So, on paper, this model has slightly less power. However, it is still a fine vacuum and actually performs similarly well, if not better, in real use. It can capture fine dust and large debris in one pass, and long hair never seems to cause any tangling issue.
Most notably, Roborock S5 Max works really well in picking up pet fur from hard floors as well as carpets, though it is also quite noisy when working. Roborock S5 Max performs mopping amazingly well; it has a large water tank, so it will never run out of water when mopping. In addition, this robot comes with a much larger battery and thus is able to perform longer mopping runs.
Xiaomi Mop Pro vs Roborock S5 Max
Between these two robot mops, Roborock S5 Max is more recommended. It has a larger water tank and a much larger battery. As a result, it can perform longer vacuuming and mopping runs. You don’t need to worry about running out of water in the middle of mopping. In addition, it has a better mobile app with more robust support.
